A successful Finnish agrotechnology business event and a delegation trip organised in conjunction with Astana Expo 2017 have connected Finnish and Kazakhstani agro companies and other stakeholders, offering good prospects for the growing agro business and cooperation between the two countries.
Finnish companies Ala-Talkkari, Antti-Teollisuus, ELHO, JPT-Industria, Pellon Group, Sampo Rosenlew, Suokone and Valtra showcased their latest technologies and solutions to more than 70 business contacts at the Finnish Business Lounge on 7 September 2017. The event was opened by Kimmo Tiilikainen, Finland’s Minister for Housing, Energy and the Environment, and organised by the Agrotechnology from Finland growth program and the Embassy of Finland.
Productive business event
During the event, almost all of the participating Finnish companies had 5-10 direct B2B meetings with potential buyers, importers, dealers, local agro companies or other stakeholders like officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Farmers’ Union of Kazakhstan and representatives from large farms.
“At the B2B event we had meetings with several companies and made one particularly interesting contact that we are following up. During the delegation trip we also met with government officials. We are optimistic about the business prospects in the Kazakhstan market,” says Jouni Virtaniemi, Commercial Director at Antti-Teollisuus.
Wide media interest and a gold medal
The Finnish agro companies also attracted wide media coverage. Some companies were interviewed on the television channels Atameken Business Channel, Kazakhstan TV and Kazakh TV as well as by several internet portals.
The Finnish pavilion also made its mark at Astana Expo 2017. Designed by Ateljé Sotamaa and themed “Sharing Pure Energy”, the Finnish pavilion was awarded a gold medal for theme development.
As a follow-up to the rewarding visit to Astana Expo 2017, Agrotechnology from Finland is inviting Kazakh cooperation partners to take part in the KoneAgria technology exhibition held on 12-14 October in Tampere, Finland.
